Uji Byodo-in famous for Phoenix Hall is located in Uji-shi,
Kyoto, and is in the ridge of Uji-gawa which goes in the direction of Seta from in the city.
It seems that for Michinaga Fujiwara to have established cottage Uji-den
in the ground in Uji in which aristocrats had gathered from the first at the Heian period,
and for the child Yorimichi Fujiwara to have become the founder,
and to have changed Uji-den for Myoson to the temple to the first chief priest
in welcoming and 1052 is made into the origin of Uji Byodo-in.
Buddhism's decline ] was ruined to that time which hits in the late Heian period,
the thought that a natural disaster happens has spread,
and the year which hits in the helpless age first year is 1052 years.
Yorimichi Fujiwara's having changed Uji-den into the temple may also be having thought
that it was not a case where he feels relieved in the cottage although the end of a world
starts under the influence of the belief of Buddhism's decline.
Phoenix Hall in Uji Byodo-in designated as the national treasure is built in 1053 of the next year.
the principal image of Phoenix Hall -- French -- a teacher --
although there is a famous Amitabha Tathagata image which Teityo made and
the time carried out to the regrettable thing was not unveiled, if it has unveiled a Buddhist
image, it can look at Amitabha Tathagata on the opposite shore with Phoenix Hall also
from the ridge of a pond. Moreover, Byodo-in is registered into the world's cultural
heritage as cultural assets of ancient city Kyoto with other shrines and temples of
Kyoto in 1994. It is said that the origin of the name of Phoenix Hall came to be so
called from a phoenix seeming to have extended feather as for the form.
It is said that it was Amitabha hall since the basis had also deified Amitabha Tathagata.
There is no specific cult in Uji Byodo-in.
It is considered to be for the peculiarity of having managed the building in the temples
to which a cult differs from the character in which the Jodo sect and the Tendai sect of
Buddhism were combined. Uji Byodo-in is also felt like [ as being arrangement of the building
as if it made paradise appear at this place completely in response to the influence
of the paradise faith which wishes paradise from the belief of Buddhism's decline of
those days ]. The form of Phoenix Hall of Phoenix Hall reflected in Aji-Pond which has been
built in Ukisima of Aji-Pond and exists in the center of a garden is also beautiful,
and an aristocrat of those days may be having projected Amitabha Tathagata
there and having caught a sight of paradise. Moreover, it is also the feature of
Byodo-in that many cultural heritages of the Heian period are left behind,
and Phoenix Hall is precious cultural assets which escape war fire uniquely and have
told the figure with that time at the present.
Is the building of such Phoenix Hall known also for being designed by the table
of a ten-yen coin? Though it was regrettable, a picture of autumnal leaves was not able to
be well taken by a set. This is because there are trees which there is no maple which
carried out autumnal leaves on the outskirts of a building of Phoenix Hall,
and mainly carried out autumnal leaves only the circumference and beside the pond.
The parking lot cost of Uji Byodo-in requires 500 yen. If an admission fee
goes into the inside of Phoenix Hall (ban on photography) in order to see the Byodo-in
museum and Amitabha Tathagata of 600 yen in all, 300 more yen will take again. Or [ attaching fairly highly ].
